Some may consider the title to this diary to be excessive, however I think it perfectly summarizes the fraud that he is perpetrating on the American electorate since the beginning of his presidential campaign.
The latest and most notable offense includes his recent television ad airing in Pennsylvania that centers around his claim, "I don't take money from oil companies..." Well, that is great, but he conveniently leaves out the fact that no one running for president does because it is ILLEGAL. Thus, are we to be left with the conclusion that his "new politics" consists simply of following the law? I don't know if that's progress - indeed, I know it isn't - but there doesn't seem to be anything audacious about it.
Sadly, the deceit doesn't stop there. Despite Obama impassioned assertion that he is free of the influence that comes with the money from oil companies, the truth is that he has relied on bundlers who I suppose "moonlight" as the executives of major oil companies to finance his campaign.
Obama had his chance to prove his stamina and willingness to stand up to the special interests in Washington when called to vote on the Energy bill in 2005 and he capitulated. Moreover, one of the principal beneficiaries of that bill, Exelon, is a major Obama contributor.
So I end this diary pondering whether the change Obama promises as President will be anything like the change he brought about in Senate. There is no reason to think that it won't because he is asking us to look at his record as indicative of what he will do in the White House.
Perhaps Obama's problem of gaining a grasp on the truth is due to the fact that his hands are slippery from digging deep into the coffers of the oil companies.
