Right on Hillary!!!

Clinton said she'd seen in the media that "my opponent said that the people of Pennsylvania who faced hard times are bitter."

"Well, that's not my experience," she continued. "As I travel around Pennsylvania, I meet people who are resilient, who are optimistic, who are positive, who are rolling up their sleeves. They're working hard every day for a better future for themseves and their children."

"Pennsylvanians don't need a president who looks down on them. They need a president who stands up for them, who fights for them, who works hard for your futures, your jobs, and your families," she said, implicitly casting Obama as an elitist.

Enough said!!!

Re: Right on Hillary!!! (2.00 / 1)

How are you going to fight for these people if you ignore/disregard the very real anger and frustration they feel toward economic policies that make their lives more difficult?

Telling people "gee whizz, you sure are swell" may be good politics, but it does nothing to address head-on real issues that can cause true-life frustration and, yes, bitterness.

Re: Right on Hillary!!! (none / 0)

Since when have the Clinton's pandered to working class voters.  This is the most reliable voting group for her and the think she and Bill are icon's.  Bill Clinton did more to help working class voters than any president since LBJ.

Now might be a good time to bring up race or maybe start the bonsia and HRC is s liar meme.  But we can all agree that BO and his supporters will not take any responsiblity for this or say BO misspoke.  Being BO meand never having to say i was wrong.

Re: Right on Hillary!!! (none / 0)

Yeah.  NAFTA helped a whole lot in PA:

Pennsylvania has been especially hard hit by foreign trade. More than 44,000 jobs were lost due to NAFTA since it took effect in 1994. Another 78,000 Pennsylvania jobs were lost to China since 2001.

Re: Right on Hillary!!! (none / 0)

Could you show some proof or evidence that NAFTA has resulted in the lose of jobs in PA.  Most of the jobs lost in PA are unionized jobs that went to asia.  But lets not let facts get in the way.

Uh, actually, I've done none of that.  I did handily refute one of your oft-repated falsehoods, which has clearly ruffled your feathers.

Feel free to mischaracterize, spin, even outright lie about Obama, his supporters, or even me, if it makes you feel special.

God bless America.

Re: Right on Hillary!!! (none / 0)

Indeed.  Let's not let facts get in the way:

NAFTA Resulted in a Loss of More Than a Million Jobs. From 1993 through 2004, the United States lost 1,015,290 jobs due to NAFTA. [Robert E. Scott and David Ratner, "NAFTA's Cautionary Tale--Recent history suggests CAFTA could lead to further U.S. job displacement," Economic Policy Institute, 7/20/05]

Now, there's no doubt that NAFTA is a complicated and highly nuanced debate.  It has become the "scapegoat by proxy" for much economic woe.  Still there's a relatively strong argument that it has hurt PA.  Not as much as job loss to Asia, on that you're correct.

what nonsense (none / 0)

Clinton is not ignoring anything. She is the only one who has a real economic plan that will help them. She is not the one who talks about the problems of NAFTA and then through back channels to Canada, assures them she doesn't mean it.

Re: what nonsense (2.00 / 1)

Oopsies!

Mr. Brodie, during the media lockup for the Feb. 26 budget, stopped to chat with several journalists, and was surrounded by a group from CTV.

The conversation turned to the pledges to renegotiate the North American free-trade agreement made by the two Democratic contenders, Mr. Obama and New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

Mr. Brodie, apparently seeking to play down the potential impact on Canada, told the reporters the threat was not serious, and that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign had even contacted Canadian diplomats to tell them not to worry because the NAFTA threats were mostly political posturing.

The Canadian Press cited an unnamed source last night as saying that several people overheard the remark.

The news agency quoted that source as saying that Mr. Brodie said that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign called and was "telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt."

I'm sorry that posting points that shatter your "hillaryhub" based reality are bothersome, but when you lie over and over, I'd think you'd begin to get used to it.

She was referring to Obama's statement that they were bitter, clung to religion and guns and had antipathy for anyone not like them, and were anti-immigrant....
she's raising them up from being doomed by their economic situation to resilent in the face of adversity.

that is not what Obama said (none / 0)

what he said is that because white folks in Pa lost jobs they use guns, religion and RACISM, to make themselves feel less bitter.

He is calling people uninformed bigoted, clinging to guns and religion,  and perpetually unemployed.

While I applaud her statements about PA, I condemn her eagerness to willfully misrepresent the "bitter" remark.  She knew what was said, and she knew what the context and meaning were; but she opted to echo the ridiculous wingnut spin instead.
